  •   Ron’s Quarter Tonner Eygthene wins the Quarter Ton Cup in Weymouth, England.   Eygthene: 1973 Quarter Ton Cup Winner.

  • 1973 – early 1980’s
  •   Ron Holland Design, based in Ireland, produces a string of highly successful racing yachts that compete and win in level rating, Admiral’s Cup and World Championship events.   Foundations of racing success: Silver Apple, Big Apple, Imp.
    Maxi racers like Kialoa lead the way to large, performance cruising yachts.
  • 1980
  •   The success of the studio’s Admiral’s Cup yachts attracts the interest of the “big boys” and Ron Holland is commissioned to design maxi racers including Kialoa and Condor. These yachts form the basis of Ron’s design philosophy for large, performance cruising yachts.   Maxi racers like Kialoa lead the way to large, performance cruising yachts.
    Whirlwind XII sets the scene for performance superyachts.
  • 1986
  •   Whirlwind XII is launched from the Royal Huisman yard: a 31.5m yacht that sets the scene internationally for fast, safe, comfortable and aesthetic cruising yachts capable of cruising the globe.   Whirlwind XII sets the scene for performance superyachts.
    RHD's first motor yacht commission.
  • 1999
  •   The studio undertakes its first interior design project on the 33m ketch Avalon and its first motor yacht project, the 46m Affinity in collaboration with Delta Yachts design team.   RHD's first motor yacht commission.
    Felicita West: first yacht of RHD's successful relationship with Perini Navi.
  • 2002
  •   Ron Holland Design establishes its highly successful relationship with Perini Navi, resulting in 43m, 54m and 56m Holland / Perini Limited Editions, the 64m custom ketch Felicita West and other significant sailing yachts in the construction stage.   Felicita West: first yacht of RHD's successful relationship with Perini Navi.
    Mirabella V: the world's largest sloop.
  • 2003
  •   Launched from Vosper Thorneycroft in England in late 2003, the 247ft/75m luxury sailing yacht is the first composite over 500 GRT to be MCA approved. Designing this performance orientated superyacht gives the studio unique opportunities and challenges. Mirabella V's 90m carbon fibre mast, easily the tallest ever built and her 150 ton lifting keel, (to allow her shallow draft and optimum sailing performance), require new thinking with regard to research and engineering. Conceived as the ultimate charter yacht, her comfort and amenities are unique for a sailing vessel.   Mirabella V: the world's largest sloop.

  •   The innovative 45m Marco Polo motor yacht is launched in Hong Kong winning the Showboats International Award for " Best New Series over 40 Meters", confirming the studio as a serious contender in MY design.   The award-winning Marco Polo.
    Ethereal: a classic 58m ketch with exceptional technical innovation.

  •   Ethereal, probably the most technologically innovative superyacht ever built, is launched from the Royal Huisman shipyard in the autumn of 2008. The sleek, graceful 58m ketch represents state of the art knowledge in a variety of disciplines. Ron Holland Design was privileged to be part of the team that pioneered a level of energy efficiency that has not been achieved for any yacht presently afloat. Under full sail, powering along, or at anchor, Ethereal displays high performance in every aspect of her design.   Ethereal: a classic 58m ketch with exceptional technical innovation.
