THE RIGHT BALANCE

Creating a custom yacht is an amazing experience. The process is immensely rewarding to owners and designers alike.
Ron Holland Design is motivated by fresh, innovative ideas that perfectly balance the fundamentals of good yacht design – technology, performance, aesthetics, tradition, and environment.
The goal with each and every custom design is to create a yacht that will reach its full potential in performance, and provide owners with a smooth and comfortable yachting experience.
With over 40 years of success, we still look forward to new and exciting challenges.

FROM SKETCH TO SAIL

Building a strong relationship with our clients is vital to the success of a yacht design. We strive to understand our client’s needs, and to always go the extra mile to ensure their satisfaction with the end product.

There are several ways to approach designing a yacht. When we work with clients we will generally decide on one of two methods – Interior Space Requirements or Exterior Performance and Aesthetics. The idea is simple – begin from the inside out, or from the outside in. All this is very dependent on how an owner intends to use the yacht.

Many of our clients have previously owned yachts. They have a pretty good idea of what they want, which makes the process much easier. Other clients have likely seen a particular yacht that they were attracted to and impressed by. They may want something similar designed.
Performance is always an important consideration in the design process. With extensive experience in yacht racing, speed, stability and comfort in motion play a significant role in each design.

We work with clients across the world and welcome them to our studio in Vancouver, Canada.

RESPECTING OUR OCEANS

As water lovers we want to see our oceans remain beautiful and clean for many years to come. We cannot take this for granted. That’s why eco-friendly yachts have become a key component of Ron Holland Design.

All our new yacht designs are created with the environment in mind. Energy efficiency, conservation and management, and improved sustainability are important to our clients, to us, and to the yachting community at large.

The benefits of an eco-friendly yacht are many:
• Mitigation of spiralling fuel costs
• Reduced impact of CO2 emissions and other pollutants
• Greater autonomy of operation in distant places
• Insurance against increasing environmental regulation
• Better resale value

Creating an eco-friendly yacht begins with the design. We then look at new and recent technologies to create an energy efficient operational system that won’t sacrifice on performance. The highly successful eco-friendly yacht Ethereal, owned by Bill and Shannon Joy, became an excellent model for us to base future designs on. As technologies improve, so will our designs, bringing forth a new generation of environmental sustainability for modern yachters.
