THE RIGHT BALANCE

Creating a custom yacht is immensely rewarding for both owners and designers alike.

Ron Holland Design is motivated by fresh, innovative ideas that perfectly balance the fundamentals of good yacht design: technology, performance, aesthetics, tradition, and environment.

The goal with each design is to create a yacht that will reach its full potential in performance, and provide owners with a smooth and comfortable yachting experience.

With over 40 years of success, we still look forward to new and exciting challenges.

FROM SKETCH TO SAIL

Building a strong relationship with our clients is vital to the success of a yacht design. We strive to understand our client’s needs, and always go the extra mile to ensure their satisfaction.

There are several ways to approach a design. Working with clients, we generally decide on one of two methods – Interior Space Requirements or Exterior Performance and Aesthetics. The idea is simple – begin from the inside out, or from the outside in. All this depends on how an owner intends to use the yacht.

Many of our clients have previously owned yachts and have a pretty good idea of what they want, which makes the process much easier. Other clients have likely seen a particular yacht that they were impressed with and may want something similar designed.

Performance is always an important consideration, and speed, stability and comfort in motion play a significant role in each design.
We work with clients around the world and welcome them to visit our studio in Vancouver, Canada.

RESPECTING OUR OCEANS

As ocean lovers we want our oceans to remain beautiful and clean for many years to come. We cannot take this for granted, which is why energy efficient yachts are a key component of Ron Holland Design creations.
All our new designs are created with the environment in mind. Energy efficiency, conservation and management, and improved sustainability are important to our clients, to us, and to the yachting community at large.

The benefits are many:

  • Mitigation of fuel costs
  • Reduced impact of CO2 emissions and other pollutants
  • Greater autonomy of operation in distant places
  • Insurance against increasing environmental regulations
  • Better resale value

Creating an environmentally-friendly yacht begins with the design. We then look at new and recent technologies to create an energy efficient operational system that will not sacrifice performance. The highly successful yacht, “Ethereal”, commissioned by Bill and Shannon Joy, became an exemplar for us to base future designs on. As technologies improve, so will our designs, bringing forth a new generation of environmental sustainability for modern yacht owners.
