Commissioned by an experienced yachtsman to fulfil his desire for a high performance cruising yacht that would be capable of unrestricted voyaging, Globana was especially targeted at cruising the most remote geographic locations.
The primary feature of Globana’s arrangement concept is to locate the control station fully enclosed in a pilot house, more related to motor yacht layout than any existing good performance sailing yacht. This pilot house has excellent visibility and with direct access on deck through port and starboard doors where sail trim and stowage are controlled by portable winch trim boxes.
In keeping with the enclosed pilot house concept, the forward part of the deck cockpit / saloon is well protected.  In contrast however the windows of this area fully retract to give the on deck social area a wonderful relationship to the external environment.
The interior, designed by Mrs. Karin Paeger-Prei§ner and Mr. Heinz Muller, has been laid out to give spacious and practical areas for the owner’s party of six, with high quality joinery and fabrics that create a Zen like environment:  simple, clean yet very high quality.  Globana presents a very different approach to the interior styling of a fast sailing yacht.
Abeking & Rasmussen have built Globana to their usual level of quality unashamedly influenced by military shipwork standards, and with an MTU 12V183TE91 12 cyl. engine and three MTU generator sets, two at 57kw and one at 16kw, this yacht’s systems ensure the ability of fully autonomous performance for extended periods of time in the world’s most remote locations.  For optimum performance in the more congested waters both bow and stern thrusters were specified, and Globana is a delight to handle - even in the most difficult docking situations.
With a bulb keel fully optimised by the use of high aspect winglets, carbon fibre self stowing masts by Omohundro and sails by North Sails, Globana offers a balance between comfort and performance to a unique level.
