Christopher

Launched in 2010, Christopher combines a classic style with the most advanced sailing technology.

Her twin balanced rudders are an obvious departure for a large cruising yacht and an extraordinarily deep centreboard increases the draught from 12ft 6ins to more than 31ft, dramatically enhancing the sailing performance.

When the retractable centre board is lowered, "bomb bay" closing doors are employed to reduce turbulence along the keel bottom.

Christopher is the first Ron Holland Design yacht to incorporate all carbon fibre rigging.

The clients requested a yacht of no more than 47m but with space to accommodate a family on long cruises.
A mixture of tradition and the use of white panelling and dark soles provide a comfortable ambience with a modern nautical edge.

Ethereal

This magnificent 190 ft performance ketch was launched in 2008. Her classic lines disguise an extraordinary level of technological innovation focused on energy conservation and sustainable, autonomous operation.

Ethereal was nominated in the award category of "Best Sailing Yacht in the 45 meter + size range" for the 2010 World Superyacht Awards, hosted in Ft Lauderdale at the end of October 2009.

Mirabella V

Felicita West

At 210ft, Felicita West is one of the largest aluminium sailing yachts afloat and the first of her type to achieve MCA certification. The project was a highly successful collaboration between Ron Holland Design and Perini Navi, with the objective of combining a high level of sailing performance with exceptional space and comfort.

Juliet

The classic 143ft performance ketch is a good example of the benefits of employing a design team with the experience to achieve a fine interpretation of the owner's brief. Whilst many owners move on after 2 or 3 years in search of that elusive "something", Juliet's first owner sailed the world in this yacht for over 15 years.

Graceful lines, evoking racing yachts of an earlier age, were only one part of the design brief for this 160 ft ketch.

Sensation

Avalon

"Avalon was an important design commission for me as she was the first of my "over 100 ft yachts" to be built in New Zealand. Conceived to showcase New Zealand superyacht building by the late yachtsmen Sir Tom Clark and Sir Peter Blake, SPY 102 - as she was originally called, was a positive influence on New Zealand's credibility as a yacht exporting nation.

The high profile Kiwi builder, Tim Gurr, created Southern Pacific Yachts with the financial backing of Sir Michael Fay (in parallel with his first NZ America's Cup challenge) to build this, the first Lloyd's 100 A1 yacht to be launched in New Zealand.

The Taylor family took Gleam-as they originally named her, on her first circumnavigation. Eventually they sold her after many adventures, including being one of the original Nantucket Bucket competitors.

New owners Mark and Jenean Cerami returned Avalon-as they had renamed her, to New Zealand and commissioned RHD to design a completely new interior. After many voyages, they decided to sell her and Tom Taylor seized the opportunity to buy her back. He appreciated the new interior and kept her as Avalon. Certainly one of the most unique yachting stories that I have come across in my career."
