The Concepta 65 is the result of a long search for a performance yacht with a high degree of versatility and a wealth of thoughtful features. It represents the culmination of radical shifts in traditional design to be less complicated, more spacious and more ‘user friendly’ than many sailing yachts on the market today. The Brief: - as comfortable as a vacation home - an informal environment for entertaining friends and business associates with ample attractions for children - clean, uncluttered lines free of ropes, sheets, winches and other deck paraphernalia that can intimidate on a yacht of this size - designed to operate in tropical, hot and cold climates - can be easily sailed single handed - an ocean-capable cruiser with strong all round performance for racing in such events as the King’s Cup in Thailand and Antigua Week - ample storage for cruising in remote areas and for carrying an array of sea toys - an overall length that would easily enter and manoeuvre in marinas and small ports Naval architect Ron Holland and interior designer Andrew Winch combined their talents to create a masterpiece for the most demanding and discerning clients. No challenge was left unresolved in the Concepta 65’s innovative design, state-of-the-art technology, advanced composite materials, superb craftsmanship and uncompromising attention to detail. The hull, keel and rudder designed by the Ron Holland studio created a boat which moves through the water with extraordinary ease for comfortable cruising and powerful racing performance. Pioneering design and engineering features incorporate a clear deck and rig arrangement with a spacious superstructure for a smooth, fast and safe passage. The interior, too, was ahead of its time, providing space, elegance and the comforts of a luxury home. Roomy cabins rival the facilities of the best hotels: owner and guest suites have queen size sprung mattress beds, en suite shower, wardrobes, vanity area, TV/video and hi-fi. There are two well proportioned twin bunk cabins, one with an en suite shower and head, and the other shares a shower and vacuum flush toilet with the double guest cabin. The galley is designed like the ultra modern kitchen of a studio apartment, with large freezer and refrigeration capacity, stove, microwave, bread and ice cream maker, an espresso coffee machine and even an optional wok burner for those oriental gourmet meals. Other features of the Concepta 65 include push button in-boom fully battened furling mainsail for sheer efficiency, reverse cycle air-conditioning throughout for all climates, an on-deck refrigerator for convenience and ample storage for a range of recreational craft. Many of the yacht’s features incorporated such innovations as the multi-purpose raised saloon: it converts to a comfortable sitting room, a quiet lounge, an elegant dining room for eight – and into a relaxing mini movie theatre with video screen projection. It can double up as a boardroom and be used for meetings, complete with facilities for multi media presentations.
